Napier Art Deco and Te Mata Peak with Wine Tasting

This excursion travels past orchards and vineyards in our modern air-conditioned, easy access mini bus before stopping at Te Mata Peak. The views across the Heretaunga Plains are spectacular and on a clear day the volcanic cone of Mount Ruapahu can be seen.

The Askerne Estate is the next stop, where you may sample all of their estate-grown wines. Chardonnay, sauvignon, pinot gris, merlot, syrah, bordeaux blends and a dessert wine are offered for tasting. Your guide will provide a selection of local cheese and biscuits (crackers) to enhance the tasting experience. The tour then travels back to Napier via the Art Deco residential area of Sander Avenue. Most of the houses on the Ave are unchanged from when they were built during the Roaring Thirties.

The following stop is the Bluff Hill Lookout, which is right above Port Napier. This stop provides great views of your Cruise Ship birthed directly below.

Finally, the tour travels through homesteads and the historic Art Deco center of Napier and drops you back at the i-SITE with plenty of time to catch the free shuttle back to your ship or walk around the Art Deco Center.
